Because of our busy lifestyles, choosing healthy meals and snacks can be a bit difficult when we are on the go. When you get hit with those mid-day munchies, it’s easy to fall into the trap of buying a bag of junk food from the nearest vending machine. Unfortunately, I am all too familiar with the vending machine runs. But, with careful planning and a little bit of meal prepping, you can help ensure that you and your family maintain a well-balanced diet.
As of late, I have been trying to choose healthier options when choosing a recipe and preparing meals for me and my family. One of the things that I have done, is to cut back on the amount of bread and carbs that we consume. So now when we have Taco Tuesdays, we omit the taco shells and instead opt for lettuce leaves.
Self-care is important to both our mental and physical health. But because we are constantly on the go, we often neglect taking the time to actually care for ourselves. I for one, know that I am often guilty of this.
We often feel that because we have so many activities on our plate - work, school, church, kids, after-school activities and the list goes on and on, that we are unable to actually fit “me time” into our schedules.
When it comes to carving out the time to practice self-care, consider this: You probably don’t engage in it often enough, which in turn means that you are left feeling tired, run-down, and overwhelmed. Honey, it's high time you treat yo-self!
When it comes to building healthy habits, small decisions add up over time, therefore it's easy to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Healthy eating habits, along with other lifestyle changes will help you to achieve your desired weight, gain mental clarity, and increase longevity.
