5 FACIAL SCRUBS YOU SHOULD BE USING

Facial scrubs have become a normal part of my weekly skin care regimen. I started thinking about the health of my skin in my mid-twenties.  I made sure I washed all of my makeup off at night and I would use moisturizer and sunscreen as often as I felt I needed to.  During my early thirties, I developed better habits in regards to my skin, however, as I approached my forties a healthy skin care regimen became a top priority. I am picky about what I put on my face, because I have sensitive skin, and I don’t want to experience any type of break outs.

5 Facial Scrubs You Should Be Using

Exfoliating is important because as we age, our cell regeneration slows down, which means that if we don’t remove the dead skin cells, we are left with rough, dry, dull looking skin.  You should use an exfoliant once (if you have sensitive skin) or twice a week.  However, you should  NOT exfoliate more than three times per week.

Regular exfoliation will help you to achieve healthier, brighter looking skin.  These are some of the facial scrubs that I use as a part of my healthy skin care regimen, and to keep my skin glowing.  I like them because they are each effective, yet gentle on my sensitive skin.

CREME OF NATURE ARGAN OIL REVIEW

I have a long relationship with Creme of Nature hair products, as they were one of my favorite hair care product lines back when I was addicted to the “creamy crack.”  When shopping for natural hair products, I would tend to overlook this particular line.  I think I skipped over them because I was used to using their products on my relaxed hair, and didn’t think I could achieve satisfactory results with my natural hair.  After seeing several naturalista’s on my Instagram feed speaking positively about Creme of Nature Argan Oil, I decided I would give them a try.

CREME OF NATURE ARGAN OIL PRODUCTS

I spent quite a bit of time on the aisle looking over their assortment of products.  I finally settled on the Intensive Conditioning Treatment, Strength and Shine Leave-In Conditioner and Pudding Perfection Curl Enhancing Creme.

What does the product promise to do?  Take your curls on an exotic journey with our amazing curl-enhancing formulas designed for curls, coils, kinks, and waves. No frizz. No shrinkage. No dryness.

HOW TO USE:

INTENSIVE CONDITIONING TREATMENT

After shampooing with Creme of Nature® Shampoo, apply a generous amount of  Intensive Conditioning Treatment to hair and comb through for even distribution. Place a plastic cap over the hair and sit under a warm hooded dryer for 10–15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and follow with any Creme of Nature Argan Oil styling product.

This Strength and Shine Leave-In Conditioner is a two-phase formula. To activate ingredients, shake conditioner well before using. Spray throughout damp or dry hair as needed. Do not rinse. Style as usual.

PUDDING PERFECTION CURL ENHANCING CREME

Scoop a liberal amount of Pudding Perfection Curl Enhancing Creme into your hand and smooth downward on small sections of damp hair using fingertips. Then twist, shingle, coil or wash and go. Do not rinse. Air dry or diffuse. For curl elongation, use a blow dryer with a nozzle attachment on fully dried hair and direct heat from roots to mid-shaft.

SMELL

This line has a strong flowery type smell to it.  The smell however, is not unbearable.

CONSISTENCY

The Intensive Conditioning Treatment has a yogurt like consistency to it.  It is not runny at all.  The Pudding Perfection Creme has a thick, pudding like consistency.

SLIP

This product line provides a great slip when applied to the hair.

PRODUCT APPLICATION

I used these products as a part of my wash and go process. I started with freshly shampooed hair. I then conditioned my hair with the Creme of Nature Intensive Conditioning Treatment. I allowed it to sit on my hair for about 10 minutes. Afterwards, I  rinsed my hair thoroughly.

I then completely saturated my hair with the Creme of Nature Strength and Shine Leave-In Conditioner.

Lastly I applied the Creme of Nature Pudding Perfection Curl Enhancing Creme to my hair in small sections at a time.  Afterwards, I let my hair completely air dry.

RESULTS

Intensive Conditioning Treatment  This conditioner made my hair feel very soft and did a good job of detangling my hair.

Strength and Shine Leave In Conditioner  I didn’t feel that my hair was quite as moisturized using this spray conditioner as it is when I use a cream conditioner.

Pudding Perfection Curl Enhancing Creme did a good job of defining my curls. This creme leaves a soft hold, which I love and I did not experience any flaking.

I was pretty impressed with this line and will be using it for future wash and go’s. My hair feels very soft, and has a nice sheen to it.  The Pudding Perfection gives my hair a nice hold without the crunchiness or flakiness that I tend to experience when using gels. I am definitely adding this to my hair care arsenal. The only thing I will be changing is the leave in conditioner. I prefer a cream, as I believe a cream does a better job of moisturizing my hair, as opposed to a spray.

Have you tried this Creme of Nature Argan Oil line?  What are your thoughts?  Let’s discuss in the comments.

3 BUDGET FRIENDLY CONDITIONERS FOR NATURAL HAIR

This post is not sponsored, but it does contain affiliate links.  All opinions expressed are my own.

Is there such a thing as a co-wash-aholic?  If so, that’s me (raises hand).  I love conditioning my natural hair, and I am always thrilled when I can find a budget friendly conditioner that works well for my hair.  I have tried so many different products that it’s not even funny.  While I appreciate the more expensive brands, and I have quite a few of those in my stash, I appreciate the products that are easy on my wallet as well.

3 Budget Friendly Conditioners for Natural Hair

The one major thing that I look for when it comes to a conditioner is how well it moisturizes.  That is a top priority for me.  I also like a conditioner that provides a nice slip and does a good job of detangling my hair. These three conditioners do an amazing job, and best of all, they are easy on your budget.

AUSSIE MOIST 3-MINUTE MIRACLE DEEP CONDITIONER

I absolutely love this Aussie Moist 3-Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner.  It has a very nice smell to it and a thick consistency which I love.  I apply it and comb it through my hair when I first get into the shower.  I allow the conditioner to penetrate my hair while I am washing my body.  Afterward, I rinse it and it leaves my hair super soft and manageable. This stuff leaves my hair extremely moisturized. I keep this one in my shower and use it every other week as a quick deep conditioner. Did I mention that I love this conditioner!

HERBAL ESSENCES HELLO HYDRATION MOISTURIZING CONDITIONER

I love the smell of coconut and orchid.  And this Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Conditioner is infused with coconut milk and orchid, which leaves your hair smelling divine.  I use this as a co-wash. It is actually one of my go-to conditioners for co-washing. This Herbal Essences conditioner has a nice consistency to it and it provides a great slip. It does a great job of detangling the hair.  After use, my hair is always soft, manageable and very moisturized.

3 Budget Friendly Conditioners for Natural Hair

GIOVANNI 50/50 BALANCED MOISTURIZING CONDITIONER

I use the Giovanni 50/50 Balanced Conditioner as a co-wash also.  It did a really good job of conditioning my hair.  It has a nice pleasant botanical smell.  It is a tad bit thin in consistency to me. Because my hair is thick, I had to use quite a bit of it.  Giovanni provides a good slip when co-washing your hair.  It did a really good job of moisturizing and left my hair really soft and manageable.

3 Budget Friendly Conditioners for Natural Hair

Each of the products listed did a very nice job of detangling my hair and provided it with much-needed moisture. So, what’s your favorite budget friendly conditioner?  Leave me a comment.

SUMMER LIP GLOSS FAVORITES

I am a lip gloss lover, and prefer glosses over lipstick. LA Colors Moisturizing Lip Gloss is one of my summer lip gloss favorites. I purchased these goodies at my local Dollar Store for only two dollars.   Even though this is a bargain brand lip gloss, it feels good on my lips and does not give me that icky after taste that I sometimes get from some bargain brands. They are available in six different shades, and comes with a sponge applicator tip. I like that this lip gloss in particular gives me a very sheer coverage, which is perfect for summer,  and it also gives me just the right amount of shine.

I like to use Elf Pout Perfector to add a bit of highlight to my lips. You only need a dab of it in order to add a nice glow to your lips, so don’t over-do it. I use this when I am wearing either lipstick or lip gloss.

In my opinion, this is a great lip gloss for those who appreciate a bargain without having to sacrifice quality. I always have my LA Colors lip gloss and Elf Pout Perfector in my makeup bag.  You never know when you might need a quick touch up.

Facial Cleansing Wipes

Skincare is very important.  Most nights, I follow a very strict skincare regimen.  There are however, times when I am in a rush to get to bed, and I just want to cleanse my face quickly.  Garnier SkinActive Refreshing Remover Cleansing Towelettes are my saving grace.  They do a great job of removing ALL of my makeup (including mascara).  Unlike some other wipes, these are very gentle on my skin.

Mascara

Mascara is the one product that I do not leave home without. If I don’t apply any other makeup, I have to have my mascara. I love the Elf Volumizing and Defining Mascara.  It lengthens my lashes without adding too much volume to them. It provides a good coverage for everyday wear,  and does not run.  And with a $2 price tag, you can’t beat that.
